Enough
A student wrote in my end-of-semester evaluation, “If you want to be loved, take a class with Llyn.”
Because we’ve been hurt by lies, because we too often fail to notice what is with us always, because our perception has blunted and we are frightened, desperate, most of us can no longer recognize how loved we are.
We need to be taught, often over and over.
My ashram is life, the ashram of all that is, its sankalpa to teach that we are loved, and to love and love and love.
The wholeness is us, is this:
all our lives, all our pain and suffering and joy and love
in the making of a bed,
a pasta dinner,
an inked enso,
a morning that slides into afternoon,
any connection…
all of us and all of Brahman,
the Ground Luminosity,
God in the being of this moment.
Nonconceptual Love is not loving despite faults,
but loving the essence beyond all fault.
There isn’t so much self involved,
not so much need to control,
nor outcome anxiety.
Whatever God is, God is beyond human cognition.
And yet, as Annie Dillard wrote,
“You are given insects, and birdsong, and a replenishing series of clouds…”
The sun that ignites my days,
the night-darkness that holds me,
Julian and Joseph and my students and Earth herself…
these are the sacred of my life,
my sadhana,
my way to awaken,
as I am theirs.
To be with this is enough.
